Mission Vision
Phase one of the mission. COMPLETED
The first phase of the mission will be a thru hike starting in march of 2016. This will be a solo hike from Georgia to Maine with little support along the way. This first hike will complete my training and help me to develop techniques and determine what works best for me. It will also help to determine how effective the second and third phases of the mission will be and how best to implement them. During the hike I will be sharing the gospel and mentoring new believers as we hike together.
Completed August 28, 2016
We are happy to report that our first thru-hike was a grand success thanks to never failing grace of God and those that choose to partnership with us. We where able to bring to gospel to over 500 hikers along the Appalachian Trail. We to planted many seeds and strengthened some brothers and sisters in Christ that had fallen away from their faith.
We are still in contact with many hikers that we met and continue to share with them when possible
Phase two Starting Fall 2016
The second phase of the mission will begin by partnering with churches every 80 miles along the trail to witness and show the love of Christ our savoir to those hiking the Appalachian Trail. This will involve selling our current home and buying an R.V. This will become our home and mobile headquarters. Susan and Evie will travel along the trail with me and provide food and literature at road crossings to go along with me witnessing and sharing the gospel with fellow hikers. As we get to know the hikers we can find them a good church home to return to once they have completed their hike as well as a faith support network while on trail as newly made brothers and sisters in Christ. We will also be starting another thru hike in 2017 to reach the unchurched hiking on the trail. Please contact us if you are interested in being a part of our church network. Currently we are still looking at getting the support needed in order to get back on trail we are in need of financial as well as prayer support in order to get on trail and meet with churches to try to lay the ground work for the network that will eventually exist. I prayerfully request any church that is considering donating to the mission to do so now so that we can get in the field this year. Working together every donation can make it happen.
Phase 3
The third phase of the mission will be including partner churches in short term mission trips and getting mission teams on trail supported by the mobile headquarters. This phase will be an expansion of what we are starting in phase one with as many long and short term mission groups as we can train in the off season. During the off season we will be providing training on how to hike and witness to hikers for any partner churches that wish to participate. We will also be continuing to inlarge our network of churches along the trail, eventually having a church in every town along the AT.
